DESCRIPTION:The Whitehawk Antique Indian & Ethnographic Art Show has been a Santa Fe tradition for over 47 years. Bringing together more than 130 of the world’s most knowledgeable experts, visitors will be exposed to thousands of select historic art objects from Native American and other indigenous cultures from around the world.\nThe show features the best of the best of textiles, pottery, jewelry, beadwork, woodcarving and more.  Showgoers will have the opportunity to interact with exhibitors with a high level of expertise on the arts they display.\nCOST:  $18. per day or $25 for run-of-show\nThe Whitehawk show will also feature a spacial exhibit:\nSpirit Beings in Wood: the Vibrant Tradition of Hopi Katsina Carvings,\n1880 to Present\nCurated by Barry Walsh, PhD.\nThis exhibit will range from focusing on late 19th Century putsqatihu (cradle katsinam) to the first Masters of the form (e.g. Tawaquaptewa, Otto Pentewa, Jimmie Kewanwytewa) to contemporary examples. Hopi katsinam have gone though many stylistic changes and developments over the past 150 years, yet the art form remains true to its spiritual foundations. Generally speaking, the forms can be referred to as Early and Late Traditional, Early and Late Action, Ultra-Realistic and Sculptural, and a return to Traditional.
