SUMMARY:Dakota Mace: 2026–Shímásání Bila’ (My Grandmother’s Hand)
DESCRIPTION:Continuing the Museum of Contemporary Native Art’s initiative to provide a platform for female indigenous artists, Dakota Mace (Diné) ’13 is an interdisciplinary artist whose work aims to share and preserve the stories and culture of the Diné through experimental weaving, beadwork, and installations. Her work creates a vital link between the generations while preserving ancestral memories embedded in the land. Her series Yáʼkʼaashbąąh (horizon) presents an abstracted vision of keyáh (land), developed through meditative processes that draw on both traditional and experimental artistic practices. The work reflects the essence of power within keyáh and what it means to be Diné (Navajo) in relation to Diné Bikéyah (Navajo homeland), foregrounding relationships of belonging and place.\nFor more information and MoCNA hours go HERE\n
