Santa Maria Feast Day, Pueblo of Acoma (McCartys)

The Santa Maria de Acoma Church in McCartys is a mission church of the Pueblo.  The Feast Day always takes place on the first Sunday in May and in addition to a procession of the Saint and a Mass, when a dance occurs it is the Corn Dance and the day includes a blessing of the fields and sometimes footraces.  Mass on the Feast Day most often begins at 8:00 am.
