Pueblo of Pojoaque
Pojoaque pottery, basketry, jewelry, weaving and dance remain a part of the living heritage of the Pueblo, both through the work of practicing Pueblo artists and the Cultural Programing at Poeh Cultural Center and Museum which includes not just the Pojoaque but all six Northern Tewa speaking people. Poeh Center offerings include dances, historical exhibits and the work of numerous Pueblo artists, including the figurative sculptures of Roxanne Swentzell (Santa Clara Pueblo) and painted murals by Marcellus Medina (Zia Pueblo). Even the Hilton Hotel Lobby at the Pueblo’s Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino provides a powerful survey of contemporary Native arts in the Northern Rio Grande Valley. There, every Friday and Saturday afternoon at a Showcase, you can meet native artists and learn about authentic pottery, sculpture and jewelry-making.
